Beauty Is…

Lady, Dangerous and Proud

(Art by: Owen Geronimo)

Please hide your eyes from me,
Those lashes long as leaves, those pupils blue as dawn can send an innocent man to perdition
Just hide your eyes from me,
Your swords are killing me, piercing me from all sides

If you don’t close your eyes and flee
I won’t be able to disappear, before your mirrors of insecurity trap me inside
I won’t find time to call for help or yell,
Your laser beams will catch up and burn my hope to pieces
It’s not thy eyes that throw the lethal arrows
Your bold brows cut my veins, when they quirk at my laugh, my tear, my blush

I tend to rush to the seventh heaven
Salvation is not present with busy angels fighting to grab your attention
In a world so bleak, the clay-like leaves that knit your hair together
Pull me towards your field of magnetic scent, where perfumes end and nectars prevail
Your sea of black despair known as your hair,
Will wrap around my neck, suffocate my chest

And make me die happily
When your lips part, my soul departs my fragile body
When you say, “Wait,”
You open the gate to a thousand splendid pearls
The way your arms raise in the air, the way you crane your neck to stare
At boundless seas, enchanted Hebrides and wild western dreams
I dream of a world where you are a swan, gliding in a lake of distant stars
Your long, majestic legs float over a velvet lagoon while your short, charcoal dress
Creates a mess of wicked, sensual desires
My lady dangerous and proud
To you I bow

Even if your angled fingers and pointed palms disregard my attention
Even if your crystal eyes look down on my attention
I’ll wait for you to walk away with waves of blackness trailing behind you
But when I find you, I’ll trace your caramel tainted cheeks and whiskey streaks
Searching for light in a gloomy highway
My lady dangerous and proud
Crucify me on your altar, if I’m not dead yet
Your mocking smile will kill me a thousand times again
In the half light

Confessions Of A Possessed Woman Living In A Sane, Sane World

(Art by: Owen Geronimo)

If there’s a life and a death

If pain is avoidable in another body

I’d rather be possessed by this catatonic demon

than get dressed, work my lips and pluck my breasts
to be your slave

Your highness, I’m just a girl who chose wood over pearls
and walked on burning sand

to join the pilgrims in Neverland
where eagles cry and ants dream
where bubbling steam shoots from dusty craters, full of candies and white beet

Trick or Treat
it’s either this or a thousand splendid suns under my feet

I go for a bun and a cup of tea on a crooked table with some lunatic unable
to pay yesterday’s rent
than kiss your feet and scoop diamonds with cherry on top

I wait for a date on this decaying planet
I wait for a long walk on a beach, covered with peaches and cocktails
where pines are bleached and caterpillars fly away

I choose to stay in a body made of flesh and blood
than fit your shining armor

where heart is steel, legs are wheels and an egg stands for a nose
and drums for teeth

On Beauty

(Art by: Michael J. Tino)

On beauty

A mustard pause a blue
Escape
A china dream
A simple line of
Chalk
The hummingbird mantra—

You know it
When you
See it

Beauty.

as you
Reach inside
It defines you

And they
Know it.
